✅Komodo National Park
Nestled between the islands of Sumbawa and Flores in the heart of the Indonesian archipelago, Komodo National Park was initially established to protect the habitat of the legendary Komodo dragon. Over time, its mission expanded to encompass the entire surrounding marine and terrestrial areas, preserving their unique and diverse ecosystems. Recognized for its extraordinary biological significance, the park was designated a World Heritage Site in 1986.
Today, Komodo National Park is a breathtaking ensemble of 29 volcanic islands, with the larger ones being Rinca, Padar, and Komodo. Spanning both land and sea, it covers an impressive 2,000 square kilometers. This vast area boasts a variety of environments, from steep, rugged hills and dense jungles to sprawling savannas, pristine beaches, and vibrant coral reefs.
The park is home to approximately 2,500 Komodo dragons, as well as a myriad of other reptiles, birds, mammals, fish, corals, and invertebrates. Its underwater world is particularly enchanting, teeming with flora and fauna that remain largely unexplored.

The Komodo dragon, a true living dinosaur, can grow up to 3 meters in length and weigh over 70 kilograms. With a long, thick tail, a flat head, and a quick, forked tongue, these formidable creatures are not to be underestimated. They can run and swim at speeds of up to 20 kilometers per hour and have excellent vision, capable of seeing up to 300 meters.
Found exclusively in Komodo National Park, the Komodo dragon is the park’s main attraction. Visitors are advised to exercise caution and maintain a safe distance, as these seemingly docile animals can be unpredictable and even attack humans. Always ensure you are accompanied by a ranger for a safe and enriching experience.
✅Padar Hiking
Among the many outdoor activities that Komodo National Park has to offer, hiking on Padar Island stands out as a must-do. Here, photography enthusiasts will be captivated by the breathtaking landscapes, featuring rolling hills, pristine crescent-shaped beaches, and a palette of greens, whites, and blues.

Pantai Merah, or Pink Beach, is a magical destination that enchants visitors with its glowing hue.
