Discover the Hidden Gems: Unexplored Bali Itinerary in West National Park
West Bali National Park Rainforest Tour to Discover Unique Wildlife
Nestled in the far western reaches of Bali, this national park remains a hidden gem, primarily visited by adventurous Europeans. Driven by my fascination with the rare Bali starling (see picture 1), I embarked on a journey that turned out to be an unforgettable experience.

[One R] Transportation
– **Motorbike:** For the daring and fit, a motorbike ride takes at least 3 hours one way, promising a thrilling and scenic adventure.
– **Car Rental:** If you’re comfortable navigating the local roads, renting a car for around 100+ RMB per day is a flexible option.
– **Private Car:** For those who prefer comfort and convenience, Klook offers private car services for a round trip, making it possible to visit the park and return on the same day.

– **Bus:** The most budget-friendly option at 50,000 Rupiah one way, the bus ride is an adventure in itself. I was the only foreigner on board, adding a unique cultural twist to the journey. The boarding point is Jl. Bung Tomo No.33, Pemecutan Kaja, Kec. Denpasar Utara, Kota Denpasar, Bali 80111. Check picture 12 for the bus schedule.

[Two R] How to Book
To arrange your visit, head to the official website of Taman Nasional Bali Barat, find their contact email, and reach out. They will provide a knowledgeable bird guide, and the fees are detailed in picture 13. The cost includes the park entrance fee and various project fees, which you can select based on your interests.

[Three R] What You Can See, Here’s What I Saw
– **Small Minivet:** A vibrant splash of color in the dense foliage.
– **Lemon-bellied White-eye:** A charming little bird with a distinctive lemon-yellow belly.
– **Coppersmith Barbet:** Known for its melodious call, this bird is a treat for both eyes and ears.

– **Silvered Leaf Monkey:** Graceful and elusive, these monkeys are a highlight of the park.
– **White-collared Kingfisher:** A striking bird with a regal presence.
– **Dollar Bird:** Named for the silver dollar-sized spots on its wings, this bird is a sight to behold.
– **Black-thighed Falconet:** A small but fierce raptor, often seen perched high in the trees.

– **Wood Swallow:** A graceful flyer, often seen darting through the canopy.
– **Hornbill:** A large, majestic bird with a distinctive casque on its bill.

[Four R] Accommodation
While the selection of homestays is limited, they offer a cozy and authentic experience at a very affordable rate of around 100+ RMB per night.

[Five R] Hidden Benefits
– **Mount Ijen View:** From the park, you can catch a glimpse of the stunning Mount Ijen across West Bali. A boat ride to the mountain is a must for nature enthusiasts.
– **Seafood Delight:** Don’t miss the seafood restaurant by the port, where the spicy sauce mixed with rice is a culinary delight.
TIPS🧧

– **Photography Tips:** The wildlife here is quite shy, so always be ready to capture moments as they unfold.
