This restaurant is really, really, really delicious!! I ordered 5 dishes, and they all went super well with rice!! It wasn’t a random choice; a friend who had eaten here before and found it good brought me here, and I also thought it was delicious, so I’m sharing it!

1️⃣ Salted egg yolk squid 🦑
If you like salted egg yolk and squid, you can definitely order this. Each piece of squid is coated with salted egg yolk, and with one bite, you feel so happy~

2️⃣ Boiled shrimp 🍤
There’s not much to say about the shrimp, but it wins on freshness. The texture is bouncy, and it tastes great with the dipping sauce.

3️⃣ Smoked female crab 🦀
There’s a lot of crab roe, but the texture is different from the roe in hairy crabs. This roe is hard and chewy. The crab meat is very plump, and I couldn’t figure out what the sauce on top was made of, but it goes really well with rice. This was the most expensive dish of the meal. If we didn’t order it, the total for two people would have been around 150r.

4️⃣ Grilled fish 🐟
The grilled fish comes in two flavors. The fish isn’t very tender, a bit dry, but the two sauces complement it well, making it quite good. It seems the soul of this restaurant lies in its dipping sauces.

5️⃣ Genjer with terasi 🥬
It’s like a local vegetable, with a lot of sauce inside. I don’t know what it’s called, but it’s a bit salty, and it really goes well with rice.

✅ Restaurant environment
It’s not a high-end restaurant, but it’s relatively clean. The first and second floors are the dining halls, and there seems to be a third floor (private rooms). The menu is in Indonesian.

Their business is really good. We arrived around 6:30 PM on a Friday, and the first-floor hall was already full. By 8 PM, the second floor was almost full too. We finished eating around 8:30 PM, and there were fewer people then. So if you plan to go, you might want to consider these timings.

✅ Health tip
Seafood has low vitamin C content, and long-term, large-scale consumption can lead to a lack of vitamin C in the body. The iron in seafood is non-heme iron, and if you mainly eat seafood, it’s easy to become iron deficient.

So when eating seafood, pair it with vitamin C-rich fruits and vegetables to supplement vitamin C and dietary fiber. You can also eat grains and tubers to add carbohydrates or other meats and legumes, such as beef and soybeans, to make your diet more balanced [wink R]

I’ve never been a big fan of salted egg yolk flavor but that squid dish sounds amazing! Definitely adding it to my must-try list for when I visit Jakarta. The way you describe the dishes makes me want to eat there right now!
