Discovering Yogyakarta: My Ultimate Indonesian Travel Photography Experience
Last year, a vibrant photo of a colorful village perched on the slopes of a volcano caught my eye on Instagram, and I instantly added it to my travel bucket list. For my recent adventure in Java, Indonesia, I carved out three full days specifically to explore Yogyakarta in Central Java, with the primary goal of visiting this enchanting village.

Nestled on the majestic Mount Sumbing, the second highest peak on Java Island at an impressive 3,371 meters, the village is a scenic 65-kilometer ride from the Special Region of Yogyakarta and over 30 kilometers from Magelang. Setting off from Yogyakarta by motorcycle at the crack of dawn, 3:50 AM, I arrived just as the sun began to paint the sky, capturing this breathtaking photo at 6:20 AM.
