Embarking on a solo city walk in Jakarta, I must admit, I was initially a bit apprehensive about safety. However, my curiosity and excitement soon overpowered my fears, leading me to bravely explore this vibrant metropolis. Jakarta is often described as a city of stark contrasts—where poverty and wealth, bustling crowds and wild expanses, prosperity and backwardness, historical charm and modernity all coexist.

The city is also home to a plethora of eclectic coffee shops, making it a must-visit destination for 1-2 days if you’re traveling through Indonesia.

🚶‍♀️City Walk Route Sharing

➡️Start your day by heading straight to the historic Dutch quarter of Jakarta. Cafe Batavia, a 200-year-old coffee shop nestled in a colonial-era building, offers a taste of history along with delicious Indonesian fried rice. P2-P5
➡️Next, stroll over to the lively City Hall Square, where the Jakarta History Museum stands as a stunning example of Dutch architecture.

The square buzzes with energy, and the museum’s beauty is a sight to behold. P6-P10

➡️From there, take a leisurely walk to LCC, the heart of Jakarta’s youthful vibe. Along the way, you’ll pass through the city park, quaint churches, and street food vendors, with very few tourists around, allowing you to truly immerse yourself in the local scene.

➡️Just a short distance from LCC, you’ll find Kurasu, a super popular Japanese coffee shop that’s a must-visit. I missed out on trying it in Japan, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it here. The place is a magnet for local “influencers” and trendy young people, creating a very laid-back and cool atmosphere.
