🌍 Nestled in the heart of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, the station we arrived at is named 🚉: Yogyakarta. Our destination for an unforgettable view was Gubeng Merapi Arum Sari.

🌑 The adventure began with our arrival in Surabaya by plane at 9 am. We promptly purchased local train tickets and embarked on a scenic 4-hour journey, all for a surprisingly affordable fare of around 130 RMB. By 3 pm, we had reached Yogyakarta, where we spent a leisurely afternoon exploring the vibrant city.

Around 7 pm, we hopped into a Grab car and headed straight to the viewpoint, which, intriguingly, was located at a villager’s house. There was a nominal entrance fee, making it accessible to all.

‼️ Upon arriving at around 8 pm, we were greeted by a thick blanket of fog and clouds, casting doubt on our chances of witnessing the lava. Undeterred, we quickly turned to Little Red Book for tips and discovered a live stream on YouTube that showcased a clear viewing spot. We relayed this information to our driver, who navigated through the challenging terrain to reach the new location.

However, the spot was quite remote and difficult to find. Our driver advised us to wait a little longer, and as we did, a strange sense of calm washed over us.

🔆 An hour later, the clouds and fog miraculously lifted, revealing the majestic Mount Merapi in all its glory. As if by magic, we were treated to the breathtaking sight of a volcanic eruption, fulfilling our deepest hopes.

🌋 This experience taught us a valuable lesson: never lose hope too quickly; sometimes, all it takes is a bit of patience.
