How to Get to the Airport from Yogyakarta City Quickly and Cheaply?

Typically, you have two main options for transportation. The first is by taxi, either through Grab or a regular taxi service. However, this method can be quite pricey and time-consuming, often taking 1-2 hours. The second option, which is both more affordable and faster, is by train. This journey takes just 30-40 minutes and costs less than 10 RMB.

Here’s how you can do it:

Step 1: Download the KA Bandara app on your smartphone.

Step 2: Navigate to the Akun (My) page, and in the PENGATURAN (Settings) section, switch the language to English for easier navigation.

Step 3: Register an account using a domestic phone number.

Step 4: Return to the homepage and select YOGYAKARTA as your Origin and YOGYAKARTA INT AIRPORT as your Destination.

Step 5: Choose a suitable schedule. A ticket priced at around 20K RMB is usually sufficient, but feel free to choose a higher-priced option if it better fits your needs.

Step 6: Click to pay, and enter your VISA/Master credit card information accurately. Once completed, you can purchase your ticket.

Step 7: After your ticket is issued, it will be available as an e-ticket. Take a screenshot and save it for easy access.

Step 8: It’s advisable to arrive at the station about 20 minutes early. Follow the signs to enter the station—there’s no security check. Once onboard, seating is open, so find a comfortable spot. Upon arrival, you’ll be directly connected to the airport.
