Experience the journey with a variety of transportation options, including airplanes, trains, and ferries. This time, I’ll focus on the train journey from Yogyakarta to Surabaya.

🎫Ticket Purchase Process:
There are two ways to purchase tickets; the offline method is time-consuming, so we opted for online ticketing through platforms like ticket.com or apps such as Traveloka. Simply use your passport number to book, and after purchasing, print a slip with the train information and barcode.
Before departure, head to the station hall’s manual window to scan the code and pick up your ticket, which usually takes about 5 minutes without much queuing.

🚂Station Information:
As you make your way to the waiting area, friendly staff members will guide you enthusiastically. First, locate the train platform, in our case, it was platform 3. You might need to cross over another train to reach it. Once there, take a seat on the nearby chairs and wait. A supermarket next to the platform offers a variety of snacks for your journey.
Although the train does provide food service, the taste might not be as impressive.

🔸Yogyakarta Train Station (Figure 1): Stasiun Tugu Pintu Timur, just about 10 minutes from the hotel. The hot climate makes you want to stay indoors, except for sightseeing.

Upon arrival at the station, staff will actively guide and lead you to sit and wait beside platform 3.

🚗Transportation Strategy:
1⃣️Yogyakarta to Borobudur & Prambanan Day Tour:
– For 1-2 people, recommended: Contact the hotel for a seven-seater truck at Rp 200k.
– For 3-4 people, recommended: Hire a taxi or private car for the day at Rp 650k.
2⃣️Within Yogyakarta City:
✔️Taxi: Use Grab, local Gojek, or Bluebird taxis for fast and affordable rides.
Booking platforms like Klook often offer very reasonable prices, and don’t forget to check Taobao for additional deals.
✔️Subway: Utilize when necessary.
✔️Private Car: Ideal for free travel.
✔️Rickshaw: Perfect for short distances between attractions. These rickshaws are a charming local feature, available right at your doorstep, convenient, and budget-friendly.
The view from a rickshaw is fantastic, almost like riding in a baby carriage.

Tips:
1. If you don’t have a local number, ask the hotel staff for assistance in purchasing tickets. They can also help with one-day tours and private car services. The staff I encountered were very considerate, even helping to order takeout, saving 21% on the hotel’s service fee for takeout ✌️
2. There are three train stations in Surabaya. When buying tickets, choose the one closest to your accommodation for convenience.
