[Smile][Smile][Smile] Jakarta, when I first heard this name, I felt it should be a place full of tropical rainforest atmosphere like Bali, romantic and free, a gift from God.

After getting out of the airport, I…
[Weed pulling] With a loud thunder in the sky, the “slum” made a dazzling entrance [Weed pulling].

Jakarta, a place that is hard to associate with the capital of a country, a place known as the “world’s largest traffic jam city” that strikes fear into people’s hearts, a city with 30 million people, but a land area of only 661.5 square kilometers. How can they all fit in ?

The most headache-inducing thing here is not just the dirtiness and disorder, but also the traffic jams and the language barrier.

–
Here, every day, every hour, every moment, there is no time without traffic jams. Jams that make you anxious, desperate, and hypertensive, jam, jam, jam, jam, jam.
One-way streets become two-way due to congestion; narrow roads, too many street vendors, blocked; too many motorcycles and no yielding, blocked again.

A U-turn takes half an hour, more jams, more anxiety.

Language issue: In Bali for over ten days, most hotels, Grab, restaurants, and supermarkets know a bit of English, but (a strong turn here) in Jakarta, if you don’t speak Indonesian, you can hardly move. When taking a taxi and communicating with the driver, you will experience friendliness, patience, loss of patience, despair, and breakdown.

We had two Grab experiences where the drivers left us on the road halfway because their highway toll cards were not recharged. We accompanied them to find a recharge point, and when we lost patience and were on the verge of breaking down, we asked them to leave us by the roadside so we could change cars ourselves.

Another time, a female driver was very irritable and told us there was a protest ahead causing severe congestion, and she didn’t want to drive in, then she took us back to the hotel .
Not understanding the language is really deadly.

Regarding shopping: I visited Grand Indonesia, Plaza Indonesia, Sarinah, and some other Blue Garden Mall.

I tried my best to find things I wanted to buy, and in the end, I only bought a pair of earrings and some items from Sensatia, that’s all.

In Jakarta, you can visit their National Museum (didn’t go), the Monas (passed by), and a century-old cafe (not interested, didn’t go) in one day. It’s okay to stop by for a day during a layover, but coming specifically for a visit, forget it
