My Friends Were Convinced I Traveled to Europe This Summer Vacation

This place has completely transformed my perspective – it’s Medan, Indonesia. Before my trip, I had imagined it to be unbearably hot with few attractions. However, upon arrival, my preconceptions were turned on their head. Most of the places we visited were in the highlands, so the weather and temperature throughout the trip were delightful, ranging from 18-22 degrees. The food was a culinary delight, and there was no shortage of activities to keep us entertained 😋

⭕️For the Mount Sibayak hike, it took us about 1.5 hours to reach the summit, with a moderate level of difficulty. We also hired a local guide to enhance our experience.
⭕️Lake Toba, the largest volcanic lake in the world, is a must-see destination. I absolutely fell in love with this place. The majority of the locals are Christian, which was quite different from my initial expectations of Indonesia.

There are no dietary restrictions, making it easy for everyone to enjoy the local cuisine. Since we only stayed one night, we didn’t get to explore as much as we would have liked 🥲🥲
⭕️The journey from Lake Toba to Medan city takes about 5 hours, so it’s important to plan your itinerary carefully.
⭕️Medan is renowned for its delectable snacks, such as shrimp crackers, thousand-layer cakes, sponge cakes, fried crispy crackers, and lobster crackers.
