My Top 2 Regrets from Visiting Bromo Volcano: What I Wish I Knew Before πππ
As a super J person, I dove into planning my Indonesian adventure π²π¨ three months in advance, but despite all the effort, there were still a few regrets π. Now, I’m sharing my experience to help my fellow travelers avoid the same pitfalls and make the most of their trip πͺ.

[Star R] The prime time to witness the breathtaking Bromo volcano π is from April to June. We visited at the end of September, which is during the dry season in Indonesia, and unfortunately, we missed out on the stunning sea of clouds during sunrise. My friend, who went in April just after the rainy season, had an entirely different and more impressive experience. Just compare the photos in P2 and P3; the sea of clouds is truly mesmerizing [Praise R].

[Star R] Don’t forget to pack fully enclosed goggles [Goggles R]. The wind on Mount Penanjakan can be fierce, and it carries volcanic ash that can be quite irritating. Sunglasses simply wonβt cut it. Once the wind shifts, the ash can get into your eyes, causing significant discomfort. Trust me, [Right R] fully enclosed goggles are a must. I even saw someone with a completely transparent style, which looked both practical and stylish [Smug R].

[Fire R] Here are some tips and highlights from my Bromo volcano trip [List R]:
– [Check-in R] Join a reliable small tour group. Our guide was a seasoned pro, driving us to the best viewing spots for sunrise. He even brought a folding chair [Folding Chair R] as a handy photo prop. The round-trip horse ride was quoted at 150k, and all my haggling skills went to waste, but it was worth it (haha).

– [Check-in R] Bring a filtered showerhead. The water in Surabaya is notoriously dirty, and our filter core turned black almost immediately. A ten-dollar showerhead will do the trick and ensure you have clean water.
– [Check-in R] Wear canvas shoes. Volcanic ash can wreak havoc on your footwear. After the trip, my shoes were beyond saving.

Ten-dollar canvas shoes are perfect; theyβre comfortable, non-slip, and you wonβt feel bad about tossing them afterward.
– [Check-in R] Opt for a white jacket. It looks fantastic in photos [Selfie R], though itβs a bit of a challenge to clean. It took me a good three hours to wash mine when I got back.

– [Check-in R] Leave the heavy coat at home. Save luggage space; the only time youβll need it is during the chilly sunrise on Mount Penanjakan. You can rent a thick coat on the mountain for just 10 RMB.
