Simplified Jakarta Entry Process for Smooth Indonesia Travel Experience

1. After disembarking from the plane ✈️, follow the signs! The corridor is quite long, stretching about 800 meters to the customs and border control. It’s a bit of a walk, so be prepared.
2. As you make your way through, take the opportunity to fill out the customs declaration form in advance. It’s straightforward, asking for basic passport information and whether you have any prohibited items. Once completed, take a screenshot and save it for easy access.
3. The visa on arrival area is usually not crowded. I’ve entered multiple times and always found very few people there. If you’ve already secured an e-visa, you can skip this step and proceed directly to the next stage.
4. About 20 meters from the visa on arrival, you’ll spot an 🇲🇨 ATM. Make sure to withdraw some cash 💰. Currency exchange points are scarce in Indonesia, and city ATMs often have a withdrawal limit of 500 RMB ¥, which can be quite restrictive. Plus, they are not always easy to find.
5. Directly opposite the ATM is the queue for foreign travelers at customs 🛃. Only Indonesian citizens can use the self-service channel; it’s not available for foreigners. So, stick to the designated line for non-locals.
6. After clearing customs, head to the baggage claim area. There are only 8 carousels, making it easy to locate your luggage. Keep an eye out, and you’ll find it in no time.
7. Once you’ve collected your luggage, there is only one exit. This is where you’ll need to scan the QR code to leave the customs area.
8. Outside, you’ll find restrooms, SIM card vendors, and a variety of ride-hailing services like Gojek, Grab, and Blue Bird taxis all lined up. They are conveniently located, so you won’t miss them [PraiseR].
