[Like] Inside Nakuru Park, there’s a waterfall that, while not particularly impressive, is surrounded by an open space that serves as a campsite where you can pitch tents. The site is equipped with restrooms and showers, making it convenient to bring your own food. Alternatively, you can have your guide take you to the Lake Nakuru Hotel, where prices vary between locals and tourists—quite amusing, really.

However, the drinks are surprisingly affordable; a glass of white wine costs only 400 KES, and there’s a wide selection. Enjoying a drink outside while taking in the stunning views is a delightful experience.

If you have the time, I highly recommend a full-day tour. Recently, it tends to rain in Nakuru after 4 PM, and the park closes at 6 PM. A safari in the rain offers a unique sense of freedom, with the wet forests and fields, and wild animals roaming freely. It’s a vibrant and lively experience, much like Pumbaa enjoying his meal. There’s something truly special about rainy days in Africa; they make you feel deeply connected to the wilderness.

Nakuru is vast, and one day is hardly enough to explore its beauty. Whether it’s morning, noon, evening, rainy season, or sunny, each moment has its own charm. The misty sunrise in the morning and the breathtaking sunset over Lake Nakuru in the evening are particularly soothing. Taking your time and exploring over two days seems more rewarding, and I’ll definitely return next time.

I had the incredible opportunity to see both black and white rhinos shortly after entering the park. There was also a lion family, with the male and female lions napping peacefully. The Pumbaa family was seen running around, adding to the lively atmosphere. Nakuru is a must-visit destination, and you’d truly regret missing out on this experience.
