Recently, I was struck by an irresistible urge to explore the wilds of Africa. After some online research and consultations with friends, we decided to embark on a safari adventure in Kenya. I can’t help but regret not making this trip sooner; the breathtaking scenes from “Animal World” paled in comparison to the real-life spectacle that awaited us!

📒Small Tips
1. Kenya has a strict ban on plastic bags, so be sure to pack non-woven fabric bags instead.
2. About 15 days before your departure, visit the International Travel Health Center to get vaccinated for yellow fever and obtain the Yellow Book.
3. The water quality in Kenya is subpar, so use bottled water for washing your face and brushing your teeth.
Avoid drinking tap water to prevent bacterial infections.
4. Most safari trips take place within national parks, so safety is paramount. Follow the instructions of your driver-guide, stay in the vehicle, and refrain from feeding the animals.
5. Be wary of tours priced under 10,000 RMB that promise small groups and 4-5 star accommodations.
These often come with hidden costs, such as being dropped off at the entrance of a site and forced to buy tickets, or being subjected to mandatory shopping stops.
🌟About the Tour I Joined
As first-time visitors to Africa, we were naturally concerned about safety, especially given potential language and transportation barriers. We opted to join a guided tour. The search for a reliable tour was daunting, with fears of forced shopping and other pitfalls 😫. We couldn’t find a suitable small group on Xiaohongshu, but a friend who had just returned from Africa recommended one to us.

Comfort is key during a safari, as you spend a significant amount of time in the vehicle. A smaller group size enhances the experience, allowing for more flexible discussions about meals, restrooms, and sightseeing. We chose a 6-person pure-play small group, and it was a fantastic decision. Our fellow travelers were friendly and around our age, and we quickly formed new friendships. The trip was filled with laughter and joy, making every moment memorable.
Upon returning, I was overwhelmingly grateful we didn’t opt for a large group of dozens. To truly enjoy a safari, you need to savor each moment; otherwise, it’s better not to go at all…

The total cost was approximately 30,000 RMB, including airfare, accommodation, meals, and the guide, with no hidden fees. We also participated in some self-funded activities.
A special shoutout to our guide, who was not only humorous but incredibly responsible. He promptly addressed any issues we encountered. His photography skills were top-notch, and he even gave us tips on how to pose, helping us capture many stunning photos to share on social media, hahaha.
✨Random Thoughts
The moment I laid eyes on a group of majestic animals right in front of me at the Maasai Mara National Reserve, I was overwhelmed with emotion and moved to tears. After letting those powerful feelings wash over me, I felt an incredible sense of coolness as I sat in the off-road vehicle, embarking on our safari adventure.
I eagerly asked the guide to capture as many photos as possible, and we shared countless laughs along the way, hahaha! The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly the hot air balloon ride at sunrise, which was absolutely breathtaking and left us in awe.
