📍Penang Foodie Heaven: Discover the Ultimate Grilled Crab Experience Here
The previous post covered some Michelin-recommended places in Penang, and this one is about non-Michelin food sharing~
1. Crab Village Restaurant: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The most recommended dish I’ve had in Penang so far is the grilled crab. The roe of the female crab is extremely tempting, making you salivate even when full.

It’s around 130RM for 1KG, which is about 4-5 crabs. The grilled prawns in the restaurant are also decent, at 55RM for half a kilogram. The clams are average, and the fried rice is not good, so I didn’t take a picture.
2. DUAN @ George Town: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
A restaurant recommended by a friend on Xiaohongshu.

Every dish we ordered was quite good, probably a fusion cuisine that Chinese people find more acceptable. The acar (a small cold dish) in the coconut rice is delicious, much better than the acar in the Auntie’s snack platter at a one-star Michelin restaurant. It costs around 25RM per person.
3. oo white coffee: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
A chain store in Penang where you won’t go wrong with any order.

The pineapple bun is excellent and worth trying.
4. RESTORAN ZIM SUM: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
A restaurant recommended by an online friend @Ohh_Stan. He strongly recommended the fish noodles, but since I had a bad experience with them elsewhere, I didn’t try them. The dim sum dishes I picked randomly were all pretty good.

I especially recommend the oyster noodle (a large portion for 22RM, best shared by 2-3 people), shark fin (6.5RM if I remember correctly, very cheap to try), and chicken feet in black bean sauce (6/8RM, soft and flavorful).
5. Fenglaotou Grill: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
A restaurant I found while searching for grilled fish on Xiaohongshu.

You need to order in advance. The spicy and numbing flavor deeply moved me as a Sichuan native. The owner is generous with the ingredients, and I love the free side dishes like lotus root slices, wide noodles, and konjac. I’ve already decided to go back for a second visit.
6. KFC & McDonald’s: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The fried chicken in Malaysia is definitely worth trying.

What’s even more touching is that KFC here has salads that are no longer available in China.
