Avoid Langkawi if You Struggle with Sleep: Discover Why It’s Not for Everyone
You gaze at the pictures and think, “Wow, it’s stunning, right?” But why would I advise against visiting Langkawi? Keep reading to find out ⬇️

In 2016 and 2018, when I visited Langkawi, the island was a serene haven with few visitors, and the scenery was breathtaking. I decided to take my family there for a Christmas holiday, but upon arrival, everything had transformed.

1️⃣ The landscapes are indeed picturesque, but when you travel to a new place, immersing yourself in its cultural tapestry is equally vital. 🕌 Every morning from 6:10 to 7:50, the call to prayer begins, and around the dome, about 12 large speakers broadcast the prayers on a loop for 1 hour and 40 minutes.

There are also broadcasts in the afternoon and evening, but the one that leaves the most lasting impression is the early morning session. It’s as if someone has placed a loudspeaker right next to your ear, making it nearly impossible to sleep. The sound is not just loud; it’s hauntingly eerie [石化R].

I came here for a peaceful retreat, not a “spiritual awakening” ~ I respect everyone’s faith, but must it be so disruptive? Forcing others to endure such noise… isn’t that a bit much?

Moreover, now the island is dotted with mosques 🕌🕌🕌, each equipped with large speakers 📣, amplifying the daily calls to prayer.

2️⃣ There used to be a charming little island nearby called Pulau Payar, known for its vibrant marine life and crystal-clear waters. I even spotted small sharks by the shore during my previous visits. Back then, the boat ticket plus the island fee was just a few dozen Malaysian Ringgit, but this time, it costs several hundred Ringgit, more than ten times the price [失望R].

Later, while taking a taxi in Kuala Lumpur, our driver shared that since 2021, under the leadership of Islamic authorities [叹气R], Langkawi has become a different place, and even local Malaysians are hesitant to visit [叹气R].

This revelation explains a lot. If this trend continues, won’t the tourism industry come to a grinding halt? I don’t know about others, but I will never set foot in Langkawi again ~ never again ~ never again ~ [doge]
