Discover Langkawi: Your Ultimate Tropical Backyard Escape
In the past, I’ve visited Langkawi a total of 7 times. One memorable trip even involved driving there myself and spending a delightful half-month with my kids.

This 8th visit, however, was my first solo adventure, and it turned out to be the most enchanting one yet.

For me, Langkawi is more than just a tourist destination; it’s a place I could easily call home.

Here, you won’t find the chaotic hustle and bustle of the city. Instead, you’re greeted by crystal-clear blue seas and skies, and lush, verdant forests and paddy fields.

Despite its tranquil setting, Langkawi offers all the conveniences of modern life. There are plenty of accommodation and dining options, and transportation is a breeze. You can rent cars, motorcycles, bicycles, or simply hop into a Grab whenever you need to get around.

Other perks include high-speed internet, duty-free shopping, and the chance to meet travelers from all corners of the globe. These elements have made me deeply attached to this island paradise.

One of the best parts is the affordability. Thanks to AirAsia’s frequent ticket promotions, you can often travel to and from Langkawi from Penang or KL for as little as RM50. (I once even snagged a round-trip ticket for just RM25!)

This time, traveling alone, my focus was on remote work. I stayed in a cozy and affordable hotel, where I would start my day with an early morning bike ride or a leisurely walk along the seaside.

After returning to the hotel for breakfast, I would set up my workstation at the cafeteria, occasionally treating myself to a relaxing massage during lunch breaks.
In the evenings, after wrapping up my work, I would head to a local restaurant for a solo dinner, followed by a stroll through the bustling areas of the island.
Though it was only a few days, I spent them in a state of blissful relaxation. I couldn’t help but imagine how wonderful it would be to stay for an even longer period next time.
Langkawi, in my opinion, is an underappreciated gem. Many tourists come here to see the popular attractions, go island hopping, and enjoy a short vacation, but they might not return afterward.
However, I firmly believe that Langkawi is perfect for a long-term stay. The absence of city noise and air pollution, coupled with the daily sight of vast skies and seas, is incredibly rejuvenating. Yet, it doesn’t compromise on the quality of life, as all the basic necessities—clothing, food, shelter, and internet—are readily available.
I’ve only just returned, but I already miss Langkawi! ❣️
