Perhentian Island: A Gem of the Small Island
My first visit to Perhentian Island led me to the charming Small Island, a compact yet bustling paradise. The waters here are remarkably clear, offering a window into an underwater world teeming with colorful fish.

When choosing your accommodation, it’s wise to stay close to the jetty. Otherwise, you might find yourself in a situation like the one depicted in picture 5, where the long, sandy path from the jetty to your lodging requires hiring help to carry your luggage—a task that can be both costly and inconvenient. (I won’t go into details about the accommodation, as my experience there was less than stellar.)

Dining options on the island are adequate but somewhat limited. For those looking to enjoy a drink, be cautious: not all establishments serve alcohol. If you’re in the mood for a refreshing beverage, head to the far end of the beach, where a small stall (pictured in photo 9) specializes in alcoholic drinks.

During the day, a “water taxi” offers a convenient way to explore the Big Island, providing opportunities for sightseeing and dining. Unfortunately, time constraints prevented me from making the trip, but I’m already looking forward to the next chance to do so.
