Sisters! 👀 Kuala Lumpur KUL is really not a city you can fully figure out on your first visit! This time, I spent a few days in KL, encountered quite a few pitfalls, and also discovered some hidden gems! 🌆 I heard these are all the unspoken rules recognized by the locals! If you don’t know them, it’s really easy to fall into traps!

🚕 Don’t use taxis randomly, ride-hailing apps are the king!
Kuala Lumpur’s public transportation is actually quite convenient, but in some places (especially at mall entrances & tourist attractions), it’s really hard to wait for a car! 🚖 If you use a taxi from the street, 80% of the time you’ll be overcharged (ripping off tourists 💸)!

✅ Grab (most commonly used by locals, relatively stable prices)
✅ InDriver (you can bid your own price, but you need to wait for a driver to accept)

🚫 Taxis at the airport & KL Sentral will quote 2-3 times higher than ride-hailing apps! (Don’t just get in and go!

)
✅ From the airport to the city: Book in advance with Grab or take the KLIA Ekspres express train (30 min direct!)

🛍 Should you haggle when shopping? Actually, supermarkets are more cost-effective!
KL has tons of malls & street stalls, some places allow haggling, but some merchants have learned to “not budge,” especially when they see tourists.

✅ Petaling Street: You must haggle! 💰 (Start at 30% of the asking price, then gradually increase)
✅ Souvenir shops at Dataran Merdeka & tourist attractions are usually more expensive than malls! 🛑 (Compare before buying)
✅ For snacks, chocolates, and instant noodles, it’s recommended to buy from supermarkets like MyNews / Lotus’s / Village Grocer!

KL really has a lot of delicious food! But for some popular internet-famous stores, the queue can be 1-2 hours… 😭 and when you finally eat, you might think, “Hmm? Just this?”
