Explore Penang’s Hidden Gems: Unique Hiking Routes from Forest to Beach

Hiking in Penang is an adventure that goes far beyond the well-trodden paths of Penang Hill! This hidden gem, the smallest national park in Malaysia, is a treasure trove of surprises. As soon as I stepped into the park, I stumbled upon a mysterious fruit lying on the beach. I had no idea what it was, but I gleefully carried it along, adding a touch of mystery to my journey 😁.

I opted for the Kerachut Beach route, which also includes Monkey Beach and Turtle Beach, with a one-way trek taking about 1.5 hours. Once you venture deep into the ancient forest, be prepared to disconnect—there’s no cell phone signal here! If you encounter the playful monkeys, remember to keep your distance and avoid provoking them.

Emerging from the dense foliage, you’ll be greeted by a pristine, secluded beach with crystal-clear, turquoise waters. Nearby, there’s a turtle conservation center where you can watch tiny turtles swimming around, their antics both endearing and fascinating.

⚠️ Tips:
💧 Don’t forget to bring a bottle of water; the tropical heat can be intense.
🌅 Plan to leave before sunset; lingering in the forest after dark is not recommended.
🚤 If you prefer not to hike back, make sure to book a boat in advance. Otherwise, like me, you might find yourself waiting by the beach for half an hour until a boat finally comes to take you back.
