Malaysia Island Getaway: Choosing Between Redang, Perhentian, and Lang Tengah Islands 🏝️
[DolphinR] This time, during the work gap, I chose to go island hopping in West Malaysia. Hiking, swimming, sunbathing, and playing in the water, each time after it feels like returning to modern civilization ~ Before traveling, how to choose an island, see the summary in Table P2.

[RedBookR] Overall, the water quality of Redang Island, Perhentian Islands, and Lang Tengah Island is excellent, suitable for snorkeling and diving with sea turtles and baby sharks; they are also great for taking photos; completeness of hotels: Redang Island > Small Perhentian Island > Big Perhentian Island > Lang Tengah Island; the degree of original ecology on the islands is in reverse order.

[RedBookR] Due to character limits, descriptions of the islands and corresponding videos can be referred to in the previous post. This time, 3 nights on Perhentian Island and 2 nights on Redang Island, had a very happy and relaxing time! [PartyR][PartyR][PartyR]

Useful Tips:
[OneR] The itinerary is Perhentian Island first, then Redang Island. Transportation notes:
1) From Perhentian Island to Redang Island, you need to rent a boat, which takes about 1 hour, costing 500RM; team up in advance to split the cost; the same applies from Perhentian Island to Lang Tengah Island;
2) The airport for Perhentian Island is Kota Bharu (BRR), and for Redang Island, it’s Kuala Terengganu (TGG), which are two hours apart by car.

For multi-island trips, round-trip flights will be to different airports.
The locations of the islands are shown in the last picture, giving a general idea.

[TwoR] The journey to the islands is always by plane-taxi-boat to the respective island.
To get to Perhentian Island, take a taxi to Kuala Besut after landing, then a boat to the island; to get to Redang Island, take a taxi to Merang Jetty after landing, then a boat to the island; choosing Laguna’s all-inclusive package is the most convenient.

[ThreeR] On the islands, besides boat transportation fees, which require cash, most other expenses can be paid by card. To be safe, prepare enough cash in advance. Additionally, Google Maps is quite useful on the islands.

[FourR] Important place names in English and Chinese:
Big Perhentian Island: Pulau Perhentian Besar
Small Perhentian Island: Pulau Perhentian Kecil
Lang Tengah Island: Pulau Lang Tengah
Redang Island: Redang Island
Kota Bharu Airport: Kota Bharu Airport
Kuala Terengganu: Kuala Terengganu (also known as Sultan Mahmud Airport, both refer to the same place)

[FiveR] It is illegal to pick up and take coral out of Malaysia yourself, and you will be fined. Buying is allowed, but picking up yourself is not! Remember this!!!
