Perhentian Marriott In-depth Review: Discover the Ultimate Island Getaway Experience

[StarR] Preface: Perhentian Island is a true gem, offering breathtaking beauty and endless fun, making it a hundred times more enjoyable than Redang Island. The Perhentian Marriott is absolutely worth every penny, and I can’t wait to return.

[StarR] Opening Date: The Perhentian Marriott opened its doors in April 2025, bringing a fresh and luxurious experience to the island.

[StarR] Location and Transportation: From KBR airport, you’ll embark on a scenic journey to Small Perhentian Island, near the enchanting Romantic Beach. While it’s a bit off the beaten path, the privacy is unparalleled, though the water taxi can be quite pricey at 25 RMB per person one way.

[StarR] Room Types: Currently, the resort offers standard rooms, available in twin or king configurations. Check out the attached pictures for a closer look. There are whispers of upcoming villas, but they’re not yet open for booking.
Price: A night at this paradise will set you back 2600 RMB, including tax, with a sumptuous breakfast for two (booked through Qunar).

[StarR] Service: The Perhentian Marriott caters to Chinese guests with dedicated services. The expansive resort ensures convenience with electric carts available for pick-up anywhere. The staff is nothing short of exceptional, providing thoughtful and enthusiastic service. On my birthday, they surprised me with two delicious cakes and a heartfelt rendition of the birthday song, creating a memorable experience.

[StarR] Dining: Dapur restaurant is the culinary highlight, serving up delectable dishes at reasonable prices, all while offering a stunning sea view. Breakfast is à la carte, with a modest selection. For those seeking a refreshing cocktail, The Great Room bar is a must-visit, with drinks priced around 70 RM excluding tax.

[StarR] Facilities: The resort boasts a diving center (check the price list in the picture, though it’s on the pricier side), two swimming pools (one being an infinity pool that’s simply breathtaking), a 24-hour gym (large and well-equipped), a DIY crafts classroom, and its own dock.

[StarR] Drawbacks: 1. On the day of departure, the hotel experienced a complete internet and phone service outage, making it impossible to call for an electric cart (this was a one-time occurrence). 2. Unfortunately, the hotel does not have a beach.

[StarR] Overall: The Perhentian Marriott stands out as the premier choice on Perhentian Island, far surpassing other options like MimiP and Bubu (I’ve personally visited both and seen their facilities). It meets and exceeds the standards of a five-star hotel. If your budget allows and you’re looking for a luxurious island retreat, and don’t mind the absence of a beach, I wholeheartedly recommend the Perhentian Marriott. The resort remains open year-round, even when Perhentian Island closes.
