[Star R] To kick things off, the itineraries for Dunedin and Oamaru can be seamlessly combined into a single, unforgettable day. Both cities are brimming with charm and are well worth a visit. In Dunedin, you’ll find a vintage city where several key attractions are conveniently clustered together, including the University of Otago, the stunning Dunedin Railway Station, the majestic Otago Church, and the famously steep Baldwin Street.

Meanwhile, in Oamaru, you can witness the enchanting sight of little blue penguins waddling home. The local supermarkets offer great deals, making them perfect for picking up souvenirs like chocolates and honey.

With its strong British influence, the campus exudes an air of Cambridge, complete with ancient buildings, towering trees, quaint bridges, and meandering streams. A leisurely stroll around the grounds, followed by a relaxing moment basking in the sun with a cup of coffee, is an experience not to be missed.

The surrounding streets are lined with charming shops, offering a delightful mix of local crafts and curios. One particular highlight was a painting displayed in a Chinese restaurant, which I found so captivating that I couldn’t resist taking a photo.

[Star R] A visit to Dunedin Railway Station is an absolute must. The second floor of the station houses breathtaking stained glass windows, and the gift shop features a small but impressive art exhibition. It’s a perfect spot to immerse yourself in the rich history and artistic flair of the city.

[Star R] Baldwin Street, known for its incredibly steep slope, has become a popular spot for visitors. The climb up and down takes about half an hour, and the steps make for a fun and challenging ascent. The view from the top, looking down, is simply spectacular, making it a fantastic spot for memorable photos.

[Star R] The Moeraki Boulders, as shown in Picture 13, were a bit of a letdown due to the high tide and overcast weather. We were unable to capture the best shots, which was a bit disappointing [Crying Emoji].

[Star R] Watching the little blue penguins return home in Oamaru was an absolute delight! The sea breeze can be quite chilly, so be sure to bundle up. The coastline is breathtaking, and we waited for about 40 minutes, from daylight until dusk. The experience is enhanced by informative explanations available in both Chinese and English, ensuring everyone can fully appreciate the moment.

The beach was also graced by some male seals, who seemed to be seasoned performers, adding a touch of humor to the scene [Disappointed Emoji]. Photography and loud noises are strictly prohibited, so the atmosphere was one of quiet anticipation as we watched the penguins line up and make their way ashore, some even passing right through the viewing area.

Their tiny, waddling figures were absolutely adorable! Afterward, we picked up some plush toys and postcards from the gift shop to remember this special experience.
