Discover Dunedin Sand Bay: Your Ultimate Guide to New Zealand’s Hidden Gem
The scenery at Sand Bay is truly breathtaking. Just a half-hour drive from the heart of Dunedin, this hidden gem offers a picturesque escape. However, if you’re hoping to catch a glimpse of seals, it might not be the best spot. Despite what you may read online, seals are quite rare here. We spent over two hours waiting and managed to spot only one in the distance.

For a more rewarding seal-watching experience, Shag Point Lookout is highly recommended. There, you’ll find seals basking on the rocks and swimming in the waters, making for an unforgettable encounter. (I’ll be sure to share some photos from my next visit!)
