Discover Milford Sound’s Hidden Gems: Ultimate Off-the-Beaten-Path Airplane Tour Guide
🏔️Milford Sound, known as the eighth wonder of the world, is a fjord landscape not found in China, formed by glacial erosion.

Driving 🚗 from Queenstown to Milford takes four to five hours one way. Due to time constraints, we hadn’t planned to go there on this trip. However, when we picked up our car at the airport in Queenstown, I accidentally saw the Air Milford counter and discovered that we could travel by plane. So, everyone agreed (not really) to go by plane 🛩️.

We departed from Queenstown Airport at 9:30 am, flew for about half an hour, then took a boat tour 🚢 for over an hour, and returned to Queenstown Airport around 1:00 pm. The whole trip was completed in half a day, saving a lot of time (though it was a bit expensive).

The scenery from the plane was truly beautiful. When the snow-capped mountains and sea of clouds appeared beneath my feet, I felt like I truly understood the feeling of “being a tiny mayfly in the vast universe, a mere grain in the boundless sea.” I will always be awed by the immense power of nature.

The only regret was that the weather was too good. I heard that on rainy days, hundreds or even thousands of waterfalls cascade down, creating a spectacular scene. But when we went, it was sunny, and the water flow of the waterfalls was relatively small (but then again, if it had been raining, the plane wouldn’t have been able to take off, so we wouldn’t have gone at all, which makes me feel less regretful).

However, it’s quite rare to catch a sunny day here, as it rains 300 out of 365 days a year [laughing and crying emoji]. Maybe I’ll consider going again when I graduate, hoping to catch a rainy day.
