Discover the Breathtaking Bi-Colored Sea at Cable Bay, North of New Zealand’s South Island
I was starting to feel a bit down in Motueka, but the sun decided to show up today, making it the perfect opportunity for my second visit to Cable Bay.

📍Head straight to the Cable Bay Lookout, which is just a scenic 20-minute drive from Nelson. The journey itself is a treat, with beautiful landscapes unfolding along the way.

⏰Right next to the navigation point, you’ll find a convenient parking lot, complete with restroom facilities. The trailhead is just a stone’s throw away from the restrooms, making it easy to start your adventure.

⛰️The trek to the summit takes about half an hour, and once you reach the top, the views are simply breathtaking. The wind can be quite brisk, so don’t forget to bring a jacket. Find a cozy spot on one of the rocks, sit back, and take in the stunning vistas of grazing sheep and the vast, shimmering sea.

⚠️It’s absolutely essential to plan your visit on a sunny day! On overcast or rainy days, the scenery loses its vibrant colors, and the sea blends into a dull, gray backdrop.
