Experience 15,000 Feet Skydiving in Queenstown This Winter: Full Process Guide

I finally completed the skydiving that I had been looking forward to for a long time. Before setting off, I read a lot of notes about winter skydiving, hahaha, really afraid that the weather would be bad and I wouldn’t be able to jump [sneaky laugh R]. Fortunately, the weather was great with good sunshine and no wind.

Now, let me talk about the key process. The appointment was at 11 o’clock, and I arrived at the store (NZONE Skydive) around 10:40. When you arrive, they will ask if you want to choose a photo package:
– $199 for the instructor’s GoPro
– $289 for third-party photography (an additional person jumps with you to take photos of you and the instructor)
– $369 for both of the above
I was worried about my facial expressions, so I chose the $369 option, and it turned out to be the right choice!

[crying R] For those who have the budget, I recommend choosing the third-party option because the instructor’s GoPro is all close-up shots, and if your facial expressions are not good, you will be very sad when you see the photos [facepalm R]. As for the height, I chose the highest 15,000 feet without hesitation (since I came, might as well go all the way!

). After paying, a staff member will show you a short video and tell you some safety precautions. Then, a shuttle bus will take you to the skydiving base. Once there, the front desk will confirm the height and photo options with you again. Then, it’s just waiting! [sneaky laugh R] After about an hour, your instructor will come to get you, put on their windproof suit, and store your personal items in a locker.

The foreigner responsible for taking photos and videos of you and the instructor will first record a pre-jump video, asking how you feel, etc. (it’s best to think about this in advance). After the recording, you board the plane [smooch R]. The flight takes about 15-20 minutes. When the cabin door opens, it’s still quite nerve-wracking, especially when sitting at the cabin door.

It’s only about 3 seconds, and once you’re in the “banana” position, the instructor will take you to jump. The feeling of weightlessness is not strong, and the free fall lasts about 30-60 seconds. After that, the parachute opens, and at that moment, you really feel like you’re flying, which is very cool!

! It’s just a bit cold [laugh-cry R]. The whole process doesn’t feel long, maybe because the time spent enjoying the beautiful scenery passes quickly. The landing is also very smooth, with no discomfort. After the flight, I felt that life is worth it, hahaha [thumbs up R]. The entire process took about 3-3.
