Explore Milford Sound on a Rainy and Windy Day: Best Day Trip Tips
I booked a one-day tour with realnz, and the bus was equipped with a transparent glass roof, which offered breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape [Cute R]. I hopped on the bus around 7:30 in the morning and returned to Queenstown by 7 or 8 in the evening. Despite the long day, it didn’t feel too exhausting.

Upon arriving at the fjord, the skies opened up, and rain began to pour, creating a mesmerizing display of waterfalls of all sizes cascading down the cliffs. The wind was fierce, and standing on the deck, I felt like I was about to be swept away, struggling to stay on my feet [Frowning R]. It was almost like being in an apocalyptic scene.

Make sure to bring a raincoat and shoe covers, and it’s a good idea to have a waterproof cover for your phone as well. The heavy rain made it challenging to take photos, and unfortunately, my phone got wet, preventing it from charging later. Luckily, after drying it out overnight, it was back to normal.
