Discover Marseille's Calanque de Sugiton: Your Ultimate Hiking & Sea View Adventure Guide
📍Calanques National Park in Marseille 🗺️ We embarked on the scenic route of Calanque de Sugiton, a trail that offers a delightful mix of natural beauty and adventure. Difficulty: ⭐⭐ (perfect for those who have hiked a couple of times) Our journey was a leisurely one, filled with photo stops and moments of pure nature appreciation, lasting about an hour and a half.

The final stretch of the path involves some rock-climbing, but the majority of the hike is quite manageable. This trail is bustling with visitors, including families with children and dog lovers, making it a welcoming environment for all! 💡 Some essential tips to enhance your experience: 1️⃣ Reservations are required for the Sugiton route on specific dates: June 17, 18, 24, 25, from July 1 to September 3, and September 9, 10, 16, 17.

To secure your spot, search "Parc national des Calanques sugiton" online and visit the official website. Remember, bookings can only be made three days in advance. For instance, if you plan to go on September 9, you must book on September 6—no earlier or later! 2️⃣ If you're relying on public transportation, the RTM bus B1 or 521 (night) will get you there.

Make sure the destination is set as direction Campus de Luminy, and get off at Luminy – PN des Calanques. Once you step off the bus, turn right with your back to the bus, then take the first left. Follow this path until you reach the entrance of the national park, which is clearly marked with a map, as shown in the last picture.

3️⃣ Be prepared, as there are no restroom facilities available after you get off the bus. We learned this the hard way by asking a friendly coffee vendor at the entrance, who confirmed there are no toilets nearby. It’s wise to use the restroom before you start your journey. 4️⃣ While there are color-coded trail markers (five types in total), we followed the signs pointing directly to Sugiton.

You’ll come across three shorter paths, indicated by signs showing two Sugitons with different time estimates. The shorter path is slightly more challenging, featuring steeper inclines, but it’s still very doable and adds a bit of excitement to the hike. [Checklist] For those who enjoy a dip, consider wearing your swimsuit under your clothes, though note that there isn’t a traditional beach at Sugiton.

Most people enter the water by stepping on the rocks or taking a daring jump. The mobile signal can be spotty, but it’s usually sufficient for sending messages. Don’t forget to bring plenty of water, as the weather in September can be quite warm!
