Budget Travel Tips: Just Returned from Da Nang and Hoi An, Ready to Share Insights!

[Regarding how to get from Da Nang to Hoi An Ancient Town]: My primary motivation for visiting Da Nang was its proximity to the charming Hoi An. Given that Hoi An is relatively small, most travelers typically head to Da Nang first and then make their way to Hoi An. With a limited budget, I opted for a taxi to the Sino-Vietnamese Friendship Supermarket in Da Nang, where I could conveniently exchange currency using Alipay or WeChat for Vietnamese Dong.

The supermarket had two friendly staff members who spoke Chinese, and they were more than happy to help. They informed me that the usual way to reach Hoi An was via Grab, with fares ranging from 200,000 to 300,000 VND. However, fortune smiled upon me when one of the staff members was heading to Hoi An for a delivery and offered to take me along for free.

While I can’t pinpoint the exact pick-up location in Da Nang, there should be a station near My Khe Beach, which is where I disembarked on my return trip.

[Regarding the pick-up point from Hoi An to Da Nang]: To start your journey back to Da Nang, exit Hoi An Ancient Town and use Grab to navigate to Silk Village. Upon arrival, you’ll spot a bus stop sign. Ensure you’re on the correct side, which is near a school (as shown in Picture 1). The minibus you need is LK02.

[Regarding the ticket price]: When the driver arrives, they will bring a ticket machine and ask for your destination. I told them I was headed to “Da Nang” airport, and the total fare came to 35,000 VND (approximately 10 RMB). Initially, you receive a 15,000 VND ticket, and after a short drive, you’ll reach a transfer station where the driver will provide an additional 20,000 VND ticket.

There’s no need to change buses. As we approached Da Nang, the bus passed by the stunning My Khe Beach, and I couldn’t resist getting off to enjoy the view. The driver kindly reminded me that we hadn’t reached the airport yet, but I just pointed at the sea, unable to resist the allure [laughing].
