Discover Ho Chi Minh City: Is Vietnam’s Little Shanghai Night View World-Class?

Ho Chi Minh City, once known as Saigon, has a rich history dating back to its early opening and its significant role during the French colonial era. It was even dubbed the “Paris of the Orient,” much like Shanghai. Nestled along the banks of the Saigon River, the city’s bustling business district thrives by the water.

The skyline is dominated by the second-tallest building in Southeast Asia, a striking landmark located in the “North Bund” area of the city. Across the river, newly constructed high-rise residences stand ready for future development, evoking a sense of nostalgia for Shanghai from two decades ago. It’s no wonder this vibrant metropolis is often referred to as Vietnam’s little Shanghai [Cute R].

During my one-night stay in Ho Chi Minh City, I had the opportunity to capture the stunning night views of this rapidly developing city using both my camera and drone. The riverside business district, with its glittering lights and dynamic energy, could easily be compared to some of the world’s major cities. I wonder what score you would give it?

📸: Nikon z72 & mini3pro. On this trip, I discovered that there are no significant restrictions on drone usage in Da Nang, Hoi An, and Ho Chi Minh City. Even in the squares near the CBD, security merely requests that you fly outside the square. I brought my drone into the country via Hanoi, where customs did not inspect it.

However, it’s worth noting that there might be inspections or fines at Ho Chi Minh City or Da Nang airports, and drones are not allowed in Nha Trang for specific reasons. For more detailed information, it’s best to refer to the experiences of other travelers and consider bringing your drone separately.
