Discover the Thrill: Climb Poetry Mountain in Halong Bay for Stunning Sea and Yadan Views
The fourth mountain on our journey is the enchanting Poem Mountain. In a rather unconventional twist, we accessed it through someone’s back door, managing to haggle the entrance fee down from 100,000 to 50,000. Once, there was a well-trodden hiking trail, but frequent landslides and fallen trees have rendered it too dangerous, leading the government to close it off.

A local family has since set up a makeshift ladder as an alternative route and now charges for its use. This path offers no safety guarantees, demanding both your hands and feet to navigate. After this adventure, I feel like I could take on rock climbing at home with ease!

In Figure 16, you’ll find the navigation address, with the dotted line indicating the walking route. As shown in Figure 17, look for a striking blue door—this is your entry point. In Figure 18, the owner will greet you to collect the fee. Don’t hesitate to bargain; after reaching an agreement, they will guide you to the ladder.

If you’re not in regular physical shape, this climb might be too challenging. The ascent requires full body engagement, using both hands and feet. The ladder, which is precariously propped against the steep, slippery soil, must be held by someone for stability. Be cautious when grabbing onto the vines, as some parts have sharp edges.

At an elevation of 1486 meters, the peak can be reached in about half an hour, offering a thrilling and rewarding experience.
