This is my eighth year living in the vibrant city of Da Nang, and one of the most common questions I receive is about the weather towards the end of the year. Today, I’ll be addressing these concerns to help you plan your visit.
**Summary of questions from tourists traveling to Da Nang during the Spring Festival:**
**Weather:** From October to February, Da Nang experiences its rainy season, but don’t let that deter you! The rain doesn’t fall every day, and it often alternates between showers and clear skies. Most of the rainfall happens at night, while the daytime is usually cloudy or overcast, with clear skies typically from around 10 am to 2 pm. This means you can still enjoy plenty of sunny moments during the day.
**Clothing and Swimming:** Pack your summer clothes, and consider bringing a light jacket for cooler evenings. If you plan to visit Ba Na Hills, definitely bring a jacket as there might be fog early in the morning; try to visit around noon when it’s warmer. The seawater can be quite chilly, and the waves are often big. If you’re eager to take a dip, aim for the morning when the sun is out and the waves are generally smaller.
**Spring Festival:** During the Spring Festival, many restaurants and cafes in Da Nang will be closed on New Year’s Eve, the first, and second day of the lunar new year. However, some establishments will remain open, so you won’t have trouble finding a place to eat. The streets will still be bustling with activity, but expect prices to be higher than usual during the holiday. Each store has different opening and closing times, and specific announcements will be made closer to the date.
**My Shop’s Spring Festival Operating Hours:** My shop will be closed from January 27th to January 31st and will resume normal operations starting February 1st.
**Travel Safety:** In my experience, Da Nang is one of the safest cities in Vietnam. Of course, wherever you go, it’s always wise to have basic safety awareness. Avoid showing off your money, refrain from wandering the streets late at night, and rest assured that the tourist areas and city center are generally very safe.
